Issue with Refilling Original Epson Cartridges after Installing Chipless Firmware
Background
Hello, I was able to install chipless firmware and use an activation key with no problem in my Epson 446 printer. The printer worked well. However, when it came time to refill my original Epson 288 cartridges, the printer did not recognize them. I thought that the custom firmware disabled the cartridge authenticity check.My Situation
- Successfully installed chipless firmware.- Refilled all 4 colors on my original 288 cartridges by drilling holes and injecting ink.
- Placed refilled cartridges in the printer using the replace ink mode.
- Printer performed a check but did not recognize the ink cartridges.
Questions
Am I doing something wrong? What is the current firmware version in your printer now?Additional Information
- Model: Epson XP 446- Firmware version: SO0713
- Ink level mode shows all ink levels as full.
- Pictures of printer info attached using WIC utility.
Steps Taken
I followed a video tutorial to refill the original Epson 288 ink cartridges.Clarifications
- What is displayed on the printer when no ink cartridges are installed?- On startup, it shows the home screen. When in replace ink cartridges mode, it shows ink cartridge not recognized.
Conclusion
A printer with chipless firmware should work without an IC. Please ensure that the correct firmware version is installed and restore chipless mode with a recovery key if necessary.Contact Admin
